ABYSMAL REALMS HELP FILES

WEIGHT

Managing your carried weight and item count is an important skill, and one
you should actively cultivate. If you're running around with a cluttered
inventory, it's very easy to end up using or even dropping the wrong item
during a hectic moment. If you let your carried weight get too close to
your limit, you might even find yourself unable to pick up or receive coins!

Keep in mind that as spells are cast and wear off of you, your weight and
item capacity can change - sometimes dramatically, especially in the case
of stacking poison effects. Try to be organized and well-prepared wherever
you go.

Some containers in the realm will help manage your weight for you. If you
find a container with a weight multiplier below 100%, then all items that
you put in that container will have their weight reduced accordingly.

For example, an item that weighs 10 pounds will only weigh 5 pounds while
stored in a container that has a 50% weight multiplier. You do not have
to be wearing the container to gain this benefit. It is sufficient to have
the container in your inventory.

A container's capacity is the total amount of weight it can hold. The
container's own weight DOES count towards the sum of its held weight!
(Careful, OLC builders!)

A container's 'maximum weight' is the maximum weight of any single
object that can be put into it. For example, you cannot put a 100-pound
corpse into a box whose maximum weight is 10 pounds - even if that box's
capacity is 10,000 pounds.
