The character's alignment may begin as one of good, neutral, or evil.
Alignment will shift according to the character's actions.  Attacking good-
aligned creatures will shift a character towards evil, while attacking evil-
aligned creatures will shift a character towards good.  Certain spells,
items, and other events can change alignment as well.

When the character advances to level 15, OR has been guilded to a clan, that
character's present temporary alignment becomes his permanent alignment.
Success in this world will depend on how closely the character maintains his
temporary alignment with his established permanent alignment.

There are some situations in which you may want to request a change to
permanent alignment.  There is currently no formal policy in place for this,
but the request generally must have a very good reason.  Permanent alignment
is not something that can be changed on a whim.  Even if you have a good
reason, you will most likely be sent on some sort of personalized quest to
prove your commitment to the change!

In the event that you wish to change your alignment, send a note to IMMORTAL
and to the leader of your clan (if you're in one).

A minor 'fix' to permanent alignment is generally not a big deal.  If you're
at +996 perm align and you want to be +1000, you probably won't be required
to do anything special.  But swinging from +996 to -1000 is a severe change
in ethos, and you will be tested accordingly.
